Remembering April 19, 1995

Today at Epworth Villa, we pause to honor the lives lost and forever changed by the Oklahoma City bombing. Many of our residents vividly remember that day—some were downtown, others had loved ones affected, and all felt the shock and sorrow that rippled through our community.

On our campus, we are humbled to care for a very special symbol of resilience: a Survivor Tree, grown from the seedling of the American elm that stood strong at the bombing site. Just like the original, our tree is a living testament to hope, healing, and the enduring strength of the human spirit.

As we gather to reflect and remember, we carry forward the stories of survival, courage, and community that define not just this day, but the heart of Oklahoma itself.
